Rapid Fire Round: Getting to know Nathalie Covezzi in 10 Questions

Nathalie is a Dubai based Lebanese-American artist. She finds the subjects of her work in the simplicity of everyday life; creating illustrations around the themes of nature, food and fashion. She grew up in a creative home and was passionate about art throughout her childhood, which led her to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts. After enjoying a successful career in the corporate world, Nathalie found her way back to doing what she loves through drawing and painting for her three children. She works mostly with watercolor, gouache and ink - giving her work a playful, light-hearted and whimsical feel.

If you had a choice between two superpowers, being invisible or flying, which would you choose?

Flying for sure. I get stir crazy quite easily and I love travelling and discovering new places.

What’s your favorite ‘90s jam?

All of it lol. Anything by Red Hot Chili Peppers, Fugees, or Madonna.

What’s the last thing you watched on TV and why did you choose to watch it?

We are in unprecedented times, so it’s the news of course – and Monty Don’s Italian Gardens series on Netflix for a short respite.

What would I find in your refrigerator right now?

Loads of food! We are staying at home of course and we have three growing boys starting home learning; our fridge is well stocked!

What book are you currently reading?

Inheritance.

If you had to change your name, what would your new name be, and why would you choose that name?

I actually really like my name because it was my sister who named me after her best friend, when they were at nursery at two years old.

What website or app doesn’t exist, but you really wish it did?

I think there is an app for everything these days! Hard to think anything that’s been missed. If I did though I’m sure it will be along the lines of something to add to the creative world.

What fashion trend needs to be brought back?

Always happy to see the colorful and comfy Boho Chic style.

What kind of art do you appreciate the most?

As an artist I appreciate all creative voices; but I tend to enjoy art that is original and authentic in expressing the artist’s message.

Three objects you can’t live without?

Flowers, my iPhone and my art supplies.
