The handwoven bag features 2 short braided handles, a tasseled drawstring fastening, adjustable on the front of the bag, and four pom-poms. Each mochila is handwoven by women of the indigenous Wayuu tribe in La Guajira, Colombia using a single thread technique - a crochet technique passed down for centuries from generation to generation. Each of the mochilas displays a unique design, representing the natural elements that surround Wayuu culture. The bottom of each mochila features an intricate symbolic style, chosen by the weaver as a means of representing her reality. It takes these women about 15 days to complete each bag
